CT specialist & Therapist, Dominika Zienkiewicz
About
Meet DOMINIKA
Hello and welcome to the beginning of your healing journey. I am Dominika Zienkiewicz, founder and owner of DMZ Therapy. I specialize in Parenting and Co-Parenting with a focus on Autism and Neurodivergence, as well as communication in marital/family dynamics and high conflict cases.
Prior to becoming a Special Education educator focusing on intervention education and behavioral skills, I received my Bachelors Degree in Education Studies and Psychology with a minor in American Sign Language. I became interested in child development and decided to focus my work with children as an ABA Therapist and RBT where I worked both in the school setting and in-home with children who had Autism and behavioral challenges. I supported parents in their work with their children and have experience in helping young children become potty trained, speak, eat new foods, reduce stimming behaviors, and behave in a way that they can thrive independently.
I shifted my focus into working with adults on the spectrum and received my Masters Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. I completed my internship, practicum and primary experience at a group practice before launching my own private practice where I continue my work in treating individuals (children and adults), couples and families.
Using interventions that are client-centered, solution-focused and goal-oriented, I utilize a humanistic approach so that clients feel welcomed, comfortable, and heard during our time together. I specialize in communication, skills to support day to day functioning, and other elective interventions that are tailored to each client. We go on a journey of self-exploration, change and healing so you live an overall happier and more peaceful life. I am passionate about working with motivated clients seeking support in various realms of their life. I bring a friendly and enthusiastic personality that allows my clients to feel a sense of security when sharing in the therapeutic setting.
Just like you, I’m a person too! As a travel enthusiast, animal lover, yogi, and coffee connoisseur. I am currently in the process of writing and publishing a book in hopes to inspire and allow others to recognize that they are not alone in their pain. Every day I face new challenges, overcome obstacles, and live life one day at a time. You are not alone in your journey - I am here FOR you, I am here WITH you!

FAQs
Starting therapy is a big step, and it's normal to have questions. As a therapist specializing in family dynamics, parenting challenges, couples communication, and supporting neurodivergent children, I've gathered the most common questions my clients ask before beginning our work together.
Here, you'll find answers about my therapy services, including options for both in-person sessions at my Cheshire office and virtual therapy throughout Connecticut, as well as information about insurance coverage and payment options.

I believe in a collaborative approach, so I communicate openly and frequently with other providers (psychiatrists, APRN’s, teachers, etc) once a Release of Information consent form is signed. Upon request, I attend PPT/IEP/504 meetings as well as other meetings both in-person (with enough notice) and virtually.
For those who need any additional resources or referrals, I work with you on finding the right provider for you and connect you with trusted specialists I know personally.

The number of sessions needed depends on the people involved and the type of therapy being used. Everyone is different so the impact of consistent therapy is based on your motivation, attendance, and engagement throughout sessions.
Some clients tell me they notice positive shifts after just a few sessions, while working through deeper stuff like changing long-standing patterns often unfolds more gradually where change isn’t seen until about 4 months into treatment.
During your initial intake with Dominika, you will be able to discuss scheduling and consistency of therapy sessions.

Think of regular sessions as steady rain that helps things grow over time. Intensives are more like diving into the deep end—they give couples or families dedicated space to work through significant challenges without having to restart the conversation each week. They're particularly helpful when you're feeling stuck or facing a major transition. Intensives are provided with the goal of seeing a change in a shorter period of time.

I operate as a private-pay practice, with various rates and flexibility, which allows for greater flexibility and privacy in your treatment. I can provide superbills that you may submit to your insurance for possible out-of-network reimbursement.
Being a private-pay therapist allows me the freedom to tailor treatment to clients without insurance dictating specific interventions. This way, clients receive a custom plan that will support them in reaching their therapeutic goals.
